This is the 'broken-english' documentation to 'Civi-Patch 1.5'

First of all: I don't take responsibility for any damage caused by the
use of Civ_ptch.

CIV_PTCH is Freeware.

 Whats Civi-Patch for?
----------------------
With Civi Patch you can patch the *.sve Files created by the comer.
Game Civilisation. This includes account of gold, aim of research,
type of goverment, diplomacy and most values of units.
You can edit files created by the Atari or the DOS-version. (Perhaps Mac and
Amiga too, try it and tell me). At DOS-files it could be impossible to change
the units - CivPatch will tell.

I esplain the use of the Prg via the menue:

1) patche...(first menue-entry)
-------------
After choosing the proper *.sve file, a dialog appears, where you can choose
the things you want to change. If you leave the dialog with 'OK', the changes
are carried out, otherwise not. Choosing the button 'undo' will undo all
changes, but the subdialogs!!! If you don't want the changes of a subdialog
you've got to select 'Abbruch' and start again.
Notice that the checkboxes, that were selected the last time are selected now too.

1.0) Change the difficulty level (alt S)
--------------------------------
The actual d.l. is shown in the popup, you can change it with the popup.

1.1) Volk (alt V)
---------
You change the name of your people, if the checkbox is selected.

1.2) form of goverment (alt R)
----------------------
The actual form of g. is shown in the popup, you can change it with the popup.

1.3) Gold auf (alt G)
-------------
Set your gold to the choosen value, '-' means no change.

1.4) Jahr auf (alt J)
-------------
Set the year to to a value, that you choose. To set BC/AD, select the icon in
the proper way. The shortcut selects the icon BC/AD.
(You should use values under 32768)

1.5) decke Karte auf (alt K)
--------------------
The map is known, but only terrain, no citys, no irrigations and so on.

1.6) Stadt aufpeppen (alt T)
--------------------
The first city OF ALL is changed in many values (try). Attention: This means the
first city founded (usually) in the first round in the order (white, green, blue,
yellow, ...). This means it has not to be yours!!! - if you want so, take roman
or russian and strike 'B' in the FIRST round (in 'Civilisation').

1.7) Forsch. fertig (alt F)
-------------------
Set your 'research-amount' to one round before researched (this fails sometimes
to two rounds).

1.8) aim of research
--------------------
The right half of the dialog contains a list of all aims of research - the actual
is selected. You can change your aim free (slide and/or click), so you can research
'fusion power' or 'automobile' for your first :-).

1.extra)
--------
There are three buttons in the 'fenced around' area 'extra', choosing one of
these will trigger off a relevant subdialog:

1.e.1) Diplomatie (alt D)
---------------
You can change your diplomatic relations, therefore a second dialog appears in
which you have to choise the (other) people and your diplomatics:
'Du hast mit ihm' means your employment to them. 'Er hat mit Dir' means their emplo.
to you. (must'n be the same! 'Seine anderen' sets the diplomatics of the other
people to all other people (you can choose your people as 'other' people above,
to use this feature). The diplomatics may change in the runtimer of the game of course.
'Krieg' - war, 'Frieden' - peace, 'kein Vertrag' - you have a embassy. '-' no change.
YOU HAVE TO CARRY OUT THE (sub)DIALOG FOR EACH PEOPLE SEPARATE.
The button `Tu es' means OK, 'Abbruch' fail.

1.e.2) "laehmen" (alt L)
----------------
Selection of a checkbox means, that this people will be stunned. The non existing
people are selected too - if you disselect them, they will 'die' in Civi immediatltely.

1.e.3) Raumschiff (alt M)
-----------------
Set the spaceships of all (existing) people. For each people there's a set of radio-
buttons: The first builds a spaceship, the second will dismantle, the third will change
nothing. Notice that you can't see the spaceship of a nation in Civi, if you havn't
seen parts of it before (this includes your own!) - so the people has to build at least one
part to notice (eg. to launch) his spaceship.
Notice that the landing of your ship will only be remarked, if the year of
arrivial is played! So you've got to set the year proper, if it earlier than
usual (In the early dates you don't play each year).

2) Einheiten...(second menue-entry)
---------------
You can change the values of ALL units (for the other people too!).
First of all you should select a file that contains data about them:
In the *.sve file or in a file created from CIV_PTCH with the extension BLK.
In the upper right of the dialog you can load(save) from(in) blk/sve - files
First ROW Block, second row *.sve. First COLUMN load, second save.
(I created the -very simple- 'Block'-format to 'store' good variations for more
than one game).
In the right half you can select the actual unit - in the left its values:
'Name' - name
'Angriff' - attack
'Verteid' - defense
'Bew.Weite' - range of movement
'Kosten/10' - cost of building divided by ten
'Bew.Art' - the way to walk: 'Land' - land, 'Luft' - air, 'See' - sea
'Rd. in Luft' - if via air: Rounds in the air.
'Transport' - the account of units that can be transported (also available to air-units :-)
'Forschung' - the needed research to get this unit. 'akt' means the last selected in the
'patch...'-dialog. Handle this option with care :-)
If you want to change the values of the selected unit in the way you did you have to click
on 'merken' (or strike return), otherwise the selection of another unit-name will erase
your changes!
To leave the dialog choose 'fertig', if you have changed values but don't saved it in any way
(blk or sve) an alert appears, so you can save now.

3) Seitenwech... (third menue-entry)
----------------
You can change your people (if things gettin' strong) :-)
First select your *.sve file, than choose your (new) people. You can only choose people that
exist - the stunned peoples (see 1.e.2) are not 'available'.

General
-------
The *.sve files created by 'civi' are named like 'civil#.sve', where # is a number between
0 and 9. To get your number count from above in the civi-save or -load menue: 0, 1, 2, ...

All changes 'Civ_ptch' does, are made in the original *.sve file, so make a 'backup' if
you want to use it later in the original form.

Often the dialogs are usable via shortcuts: Use Alternate and the underbared
char, or the mentioned char next to an object.

I create two files when quiting: DESKTOP.CFG contains what was changed last in the *.sve
(so the checkboxes are selected in the same matter nexr time), and CIV_PATH.DAT contains
your path to 'civilisation'.

BTW I do rename the "barbarians" to "fascsists" as soon as they occupy a city - it's a more
proper concept of the enemy.
