1. Legal

Alice is Freeware, i.e. everyone may use it free of charge and pass on free
 of charge.
Alice must only be distributed COMPLETE with supplied documentation
i.e. this text must be with it!

Profit from the distribution of ALICE is PROHIBITED.

2. What is it, what is it??

Alice is a TSR ("Terminate and stay resident"), i.e. in this
case a program for the AUTO-folder. Once Alice
is installed then all applications can be Iconified and
control over Icon positions is enabled.
One requirement however is that the operating system supports
 iconify. These are:
 -MagiC >= V3.0
 -MagiCMaC >= 1.2.4
 -MultiTOS -Beta
 -Geneva
 -N.AES

ATTENTION! This version 0.9 of Alice does not run under MTOS and
Geneva (in any case not the first public Demo), Alice has not been
tried on a system running N.AES (If anyone can test for this please contact
 me.)
A configuration is planned, presently I haven't got the time for it.
If there is a demand for supporting other OS systems other than
 MagiC/MagiCMaC then development will continue.

3. Installation and configuration

Copy Alice.prg into the AUTO-folder. In order to configure
Alice you need the GEM-version (!) of SETTER.
SETTER is originally a TTP-program by Harun Scheutzow, and is used
to configure various programs. Markus Kohm has written a
GEM-version of this program that offers new features to the
configuration process. These new features are used by Alice
and thus why you need the GEM version.
 (It's included in this archive)

Simply drag the Alice.prg (from the AUTO-folders) to the SETTER.PRG
The Setter will be started and will present you with a window of options
of Alice. I hope that you find the options self explanatory however if
you feel the text is confusing please let me know.

Double click on the option you wish to alter.
Having made your changes save and reboot to see the results.

4. Use

There is not alot to say, most of you will have experience from programs
such as Thing, CAT, ConNect eta that support iconify in some way.
Older programs normally offer no Iconify until now.
Alice allows all programs to support iconify and manages all
 iconified windows on the screen.

For those who are new to "Iconify", the small triangle in the top right of
your window is the iconifier. A click on it will cause the window to be
iconified and it will be represented by an "ICON" normally in the bottom
left of the desktop. If you hold the CONTROL key whilst iconifying then
ALL (ALL-ICONIFY) windows belonging to that application will be iconified.
A double click on an "ICON" will cause the icon to be "UnIconified"
ie. it will be redrawn at its original size and position.

You can "Drag and Drop" file/arguements to Iconified windows provided
that the involved applications support VA-protocol.

5. icons

Naturally Alice cannot know what the contents of the icon are
(e.g. a text or a graphics),therefore Alice adopts one of
 the four following standard icons.
-If you iconify an individual window of an application then the icon
  appears as window-icon
-If you iconify an individual window of a Accessories then the icon
 appears as a window-icon with opened Accessory-menu.
-If you use "All-Iconify" with an application then the icon appears
as a program -icon of the Original-TOS-Desktop.
-If you use "All-Iconify" with an Accessory then the icon appears
as a program -icon of the Original-TOS-Desktop with opened
 Accessory-menu.

The window title stays with the icon and below appears the name of
the application that the window belongs to.

From version 1 of THING, the desktop replacement, iconify icons can
be edited providing you have a suitable RSC editor. Maybe other
 replacements will follow :)
