Hello all,

I was trying to install oskit on a freebsd 4.2 system. i have the most
current version of oskit. however when i do a configure i notice that
i get the following error:

configure: warning: Cannont build BSD boot adaptor (boot/bsd) as
linker does not support a.out format

I looked at some old emails and found this information from a
Leigh Stoller <stoller@fast.cs.utah.edu>:

"Anyway, the oskit requires an a.out linker to
create BSD a.out images (from ELF binaries) that the BSD boot loader can
load. We do this by compiling a binutils that can deal with both a.out and
elf formats. Something like:

        /build/src/binutils-2.9.1/configure --prefix=/build/tools
                --target=i386-mach \
                --enable-targets=i386-mach,i386-unknown-freebsdelf3.0

Then setenv AOUT_LD to:

        /build/tools/bin/i386-mach-ld -m i386mach"

i downloaded the latest binutils which was version 2.10.1 and i used
the exact configure stuff like above and i put the setenv in my
.cshrc.

when i tried to do a configure again on oskit i got the same error
again. what am i doing wrong? any help would be greatly appreciated.

sincerely,
jason
