booting larger kernals

Alright, I know that someone out there HAS to know how to boot a large
kernal, such as the one called blkio which happens to be quite a bit larger
than the 640k (or is it 64k) size limit. I was informed by a friend that
GRUB might do the trick for me. I tried grub and got the following error
messages.
grub> kernel /boot/zImage

Error: Selected cylinder exceeds maximum supported by BIOS

I assume this is because the kernel is too large. What do I do?

 will
