Platform-specific code in non-platform-specific directories?

I've noticed several places in OSKit where there are x86 assembly files
(*.S) in a "main directory" rather than in an x86 subdirectory (i.e.,
oskit/unix, oskit/unix/elf, oskit/boot, oskit/boot/pxe, oskit/boot/ofw,
oskit/boot/net, etc.)--is there a particular reason for this, or should
there exist platform-specific subdirectories for these directories?
